Vacancy – Geomatics Specialist

NORCE Energy is a department of NORCE, a new and forward-looking research institute, based in Bergen, Norway. Within NORCE Energy, the Virtual Outcrop Geology (VOG) team pioneers research and software in digital geoscience.

The VOG team is seeking to employ a Geomatics Specialist to support their ongoing projects and activities situated at the boundary of geomatics, geoscience and visualisation.

Over the last decade the group has made internationally-recognised contributions in laser scanning (lidar), photogrammetry and hyperspectral imaging.

In addition, they have developed unique visual and analytical software, including LIME and SAFARI, for increasing the impact and value of 3D geospatial data within the geoscience industry and R&D environments.

The team is now looking for a highly motivated individual to contribute to acquisition, processing and data management (e.g. lidar, photogrammetry/SfM, remotely sensed data) within their portfolio of industry and academic projects.

The successful candidate will liaise with project contacts, manage local field equipment (e.g. UAVs) and extend workflows to provide custom deliverables. In addition, they will be able to influence and test in-house software developments before they are released. As one member of a small and focussed team, you will contribute to VOG’s position at the forefront of digital geoscience.
