Every year the Geological Remote Sensing Group (GRSG) offers up to three awards of £750 each. The aim is to reward and aid students who are engaged in geoscientific remote sensing research. These awards may be used to support laboratory work, fieldwork, data/software purchases, attendance at conferences, and international collaborations.

To be eligible for a GRSG student award you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a Student member of the GRSG at the time of application (Click here for more information on becoming a member)
  • Must be enrolled on a full or part-time university programme, including MSc and PhD projects, focused on some aspect of geoscientific remote sensing. The awards are open to students of any nationality.

If you are successful, you will be required to submit a report on your research results and how the funds were used for publication in the GRSG Newsletter and on the GRSG website and we would appreciate an oral or poster presentation at the GRSG AGM in December each year (details tbc).

The GRSG also offer a number of ‘student travel bursaries’ (up to a maximum of £150) available to GRSG student members to attend the GRSG AGM in December each year. The student travel bursaries for the AGM are completely independent from the Student Awards and aim to support students to attend and present research via poster or oral presentation to an international academic and commercial audience.
